Data source settings

Choose which catalogue(s) the scanner should query for each ISBN.

Tries Open Library first; if no record is found, automatically checks the Library of Congress before asking for manual entry.

Note: the public LOC catalogue API mainly covers digitised collections rather than a full ISBN catalogue, so match rates are lower than Open Library.

This is a "load it and leave it" scanning tool. Click the input box once, then scan barcodes continuously — each successful match plays a quick two-tone chime and the row appears automatically. You only need to look at the screen when a loud alarm sounds, which means a book could not be identified automatically and needs a quick manual entry (or a skip, if you'd rather deal with it later). Right-click any ISBN in the table to delete an entry or attach your library's own physical barcode number to that copy. A CSV backup saves itself automatically every set number of scans — you can change that interval, and the data sources used, from the Functions menu.
